The inaugural Malaysia International Firework Competition (MIFC) came to the end yesterday with a 30 minutes firework in Putrajaya. 8000 fireworks was shot to the sky yesterday night.
The first winner of MIFC was Australia team, Howard and Sons Pyrotechnics Pty Ltd, which firing the firework on 22 August 2007. The theme for their firework session was 'Aurora Australia'.
The team was the firework supplier to Disneyland and was the one which display the firework during Melbourne Commonwealth Games last year.
It was a bit dissapointing that Japan, which was expected to win, didn't turn out to be the winner. However, I must congratulate all 4 teams for giving such a good show. Haiz...how good if I could make it for Australia team that day...
Actually Australia team does perform well than Japan this time around (my opinion..after view it in youtube)...the color combination is nice and the position of all the firework are very beautiful as well...However for the ending part, I believe no team can beat Japan...wahahaha...

It have organized the Canada yearly firework competition. The earlier newspaper mentions that all participanting team (Malaysia, Japan, Italy and Australia) will also contribute in the finale display. Not sure this is true or not since the organizer like to change last minutes de....But i hope to see the Japan finale that day..hope it will appear again...hahaha...but i dun think i will be going for the finale la...hahahahha
Anyway,it will be interesting to know who is the winner. Another thing, standing at PICC does make ddifferent...if you stand at roadsite, the area is too near and i can garantee your eye can't see all the fireworks....haha...

Are Malaysia really 50 years old?
Yesterday, I went to Putrajaya to see Japan Fireworks team. Putrajaya is the place where i think is the most beautiful of all especially if you walk along the parade street from Prime Minister office to PICC. You will feel like you are actually in overseas.
It have been a bad behaviour for Malaysian to build and not maintain. To build as big, as grand, as beautiful as possible but not practical and not user friendly. Yesterday, I was so disbelieve to see how development of putrajaya was not really taken care off. The path along the lake side was very beatiful but the street light is not on, the benches along the path also dirty and some already broken, the plant around the area look dry and not surviving, no adequate rubbish bin around, the divider is nicely build but the light and glasses been stolen, lot of manholes steel been stolen, manhole concrete which already crack and dangerous is not been replace and worst of all, the grass is not maintained.
Besides that, Malaysian are really dirty as they throw rubbish everywhere. After the firework, you can see rubbish everywhere. There is inadequate parking lots for viewer who come into Putrajaya. Public toilet is closed and only movable toilet is around which is also few kilometre away. To make things worst, when ask the police where is the toilet, the officer just ask us to go behind some bushes and do our business...sweat! =.="
Malaysia have a serious problem with it traffic which sometime I think that car is more than the human. Everywhere is car but parking is so limited.
Looking at PICC, does give thousand memories and I feel so proud of it but looking at small and essential facilities around that Malaysia still unable to provide make me sad..Are we really 50 this year?
To add on...I believe it u see a new town develop, you might no longer found any public telephone around....right??hehe..
Anyway, this is just my view, not to offence any one or the government...or I will end up been questions around...

What a night !!
My most awaited night did come true yesterday. Since years ago, I have been waiting to watch international fireworks competition with my own eye! Could not believe that it becomes reality yesterday.
Performing in front of more than 300 000 viewers, Japan group fascinated all who had arrived and awaited for hours with spectacular performance of music and fireworks. Once the Putrajaya International Convention Centre, PICC close off all the light, all people get their camera and phone ready to snap the best shot ever. The fireworks from Seri Gemilang Bridge or also called as Golden Bridge ended in 27 minutes, one of the longest ever performance that I ever saw. The ending of the show was superb. SUPERB....we almost can touch the firework. The whole sky is full with million of gold line...I managed to snap a 22 minutes video. A very nice video...wow...
Besides from its nice performance, Putrajaya itself is already very beautiful. Not to mention all the bridges and buildings there which was lighted up nicely. The PICC building shocked me and my friends a lot as it look like UFO in middle of a hill....what make us more happy is we feel like we are in overseas as the PICC look like a giant stadium on top of a hill....It was nicely lighted but due to poor quality of camera at night, my photo was not as good as the real scene...
After the firework, everyone rushed back to their vehicle and zoom off....It was a massive jam. We jammed for 2 hours. Anyway, here go some photos. Sorry for the quality because I am not professional...I can't post up the video as it was too huge already...hehe...let me try whether i can upload my video...must have take some time..

Ok la...already 3 hours of uploading the video to this blog but still lot to go...decided not to post the vidoe lo..haha

Hungry Ghost Festival
Once in a year, Sg Long resident will be entertained by a mini concert organize in conjunction with Hungry Ghost Festival...It was one of the most scary month for some of us but from my research and finding, I saw most of the students are so interested in the event and thus spent sometime there...hehe
Besides from the olden days songs or some dirty songs sang by the singer, there is also some ritual ceremony going on. For those staying in Glen Court or scotpine, we might hear some drum and chanting.
Tonight will be the finale of the hungry ghost ceremony here where there will be a parade. I can't imagine a parade which also happen on the pasar malam day...haha..sure jammed up..
Tonight you can see the medium jumping around, and they will toast the god of hell and parade along some sg long area to bless the shop so that the ghost will not kacau them..hehe...Then they will burn thousand tan of hell paper and houses, buses, ships, horses, and lot more other paper shaped item to be given to those in the hell...
Tomolo will be the finale of all event where there will a annual dinner for charity of the temple. An auction will also been carried out. Last year auction is damm geng where an item can be sold out up to RM 100,000 althought the starting price is RM 200. All those tai ko tai ko of Sg Long will show off...haha...u know la...
It was believe that all spirit from hell will be wondering around in month 7 of lunar calender. The hell door will open a bit and a bit until day 15 and will close back slowly starting day 16. Those spirit that unable to go back on time will be wondering around for the rest of a year. people pay respect and offer their anchestor will food and hell money during the prayer so they can enjoy their life while waiting for racarnation. Most people will pray on day 14 or 15 so to prevent the spirit from unable to get the offering as some will rush back early before the door close or some didn't manage to sqeeze out as many spirit would like to come out also...hehe...this is according to my Klang friends...wahahaha...

What I have learn
Already almost 3 month I let go the title of chairman to my successor, but I don't really think I am really retired in the mind..haha..dunno why??
It was really a very good experience within this 1 year of tenure in Accounting Society, First Aid Society and Student Representative Committee. It does change me a lot from an introvert to be more passive. It does open my mind that although we all have same color of hair but we have different characteristics.
Working with group of friends in accounting society is pretty a easy job. Although sometime there is obstacles as well. Accounting Society have create a clear pathway for me to my future. I learn valuable knowledge that we can't learn from textbook. Dealing with people who will give thousand faces to you is a difficult task but squeeze yourself as middle person of 2 or 3 parties is even hard. Definitely a lot people are saying I can be employ because I have connection with many Human Resource Manager. What ever people want to say, is my future. As employer nowadays doesn't just look at academic but also extra curriculum activities. It also depend much on each person softskill also. I really happy working with a bunch of friends who is so supportive in my idea even some of my idea are not so good. We learn together and we have done our best. I can ensure that this 13 committees are not just good but will be much employable in the future.
First Aid Society is yet another society I learn a lot from. This was the first society I wanted to join but end up to be last I join...haha..Working with this crazy fellow is really a fun and enjoyable journey. Seeing how Swee Wai lead the team really let me learn a lot.
Coming to SRC, which i should say I never participate much. People label me as Gossip King so SRC will be best suit for me!! haha..how can they say this...SRC really expose me with way of dealing with many side of people from the top management until the lowest hierarchy personal. It also expose me with different style of leading and how to network with people..
In less than 130 days toward our graduation, I found that life as student is extremely tough. We have undergo million of challenges, obstacles and barrier. Friendship helps to overcome all this and teamwork make everything look easy. As student we can choose to relax, wait till last minutes and get what we want or choose to be like me or Kent Chan, who prefer suffering from time constraint and managing life between responsibilities and studies.
The more picture I upload to the blog, the more I realize that all my happy moments come from the event I join. Yes, in some point of time, I suffer but in some point of time I enjoy. But all this experience, knowledge and friendship that I gain throughout this journey, is worth my contribution. Now is was time back for me to focus on study, health and sport and get closer with classmate. Really thanks to all who make my life so meaningful and all the best to all..

What Happen to Malaysia Public Transport
While the country is in the heat of celebrating the so call "golden celebration" and visit Malaysia year, I truly unhappy with the standard of public transport in Malaysia. Yesterday during my travel, I can hear some tourist commenting on our public transport. It was bad as it give us a bad image..
Yesterday night, i travel to my friends house in PJ just to pay him a visit and end up with horrible experience. My bus journey was OK although majority of the users are Indonesia. Upon arrival to Serdang KTM station, I saw a long queue in the ticket machine and the ticket counter was close, so I decided to use Touch and GO. To my horror, I can't use it. Even some other users also can't use their touch and go..WTF..what the use of the card if we can't use it..I wonder whether they will eat our money even we didn't able to utilize it as the instruction say once there is a "bit" sound, the card will be charge...WTF...
I have to queue up in the long queue and when it was my turn a group of "punk long hair monster" from Indonesia just cut queue in front of me....WTF..WTF..Please la..u are staying in our country, respect us and respect the law... This stupid jerk don't really know how to buy a ticket..take 10 minutes to buy 2 tickets because their money is not acceptable by the machine..Hey punk, if cannot accept mean cannot accept la...u keep on push the money in also useless la..push for 10 minutes also no use what!!!
After the wait which i really wanna kill those punk, i get my change to buy my ticket..Worst of all, the machine does not have KL sentral icon and have "kampar, Ipoh, Taiping and Tambun icon"..what the hack!! I need to search which button is for KL sentral because they not yet put sticker for all the button..Fortunately I can refer to the machine beside mine..I have to run toward the platform because the train arrive when i was buying my ticket all because of the stupid jerk...Another stupid thing about the machine is it just accept 1 piece of paper money. How am I going to buy a RM 1.70 ticket using 2 RM 1 money? How come the machine so stupid de..
Arriving at KL sentral, I change to LRT putra, which was once the most reliable public transport. Again it make me angry. My top up card cannot be use, my touch and go card also cannot be use..WTF...After checking at the counter, the lady say nothing happen, u can use it..whatever la..getting tired with this kinda reason so I buy a single route ticket...Then i take taxi to my friends house which fortunately the driver use meter and not kill me with stupid rate like what happen in Sg Long.
I spent a night at friends house in PJ which was kinda good environment. I was wondering my journey back, will it be so bad as just now.
To avoid taking KTM, i plan my journey nicely. I take taxi to LRT station and take LRT to KL sentral. I ask the lady over the counter why my top up LRT card cannot be use. She told me my card had expired because I didn't use it for a year...and my card no longer can be use..The credit also become zero!!! haiz..I just use it last 2 month le..where got a year wo..Just change card last 2 month from blue to green and ask me to change with RM 10.00...I really cannot tahan le..How come the service so bad liow de...I use LRT frequently last time but nowadays not as frequent as I use to be but how can their record be 1 year when I just use it 2 month ago???
To prevent myself from taking KTM since I have really bad experience with KTM since million years ago, i decided to go to Times Square for lunch before taking bus back. The queue in the monorail station is long so I decided to use touch and go..Again it cannot and again I saw lot of people also cannot use their touch and go. I queue up for ticket and complaint to the person in charge. He come up with a machine to test my card. Is functioning but my credit which is suppose from RM 16.00 have drop to RM 6 because stupid KTM already eat my money..Although I have RM 6, I still can use for monorail but som how it never functioning. The guy ask me to try again and again. I just answer 'NO, ticket to Imbi please and pass him the damm RM 1.60'.
When I arrive on the platform, it was full with Indonesia and Thai worker. I was like "am I in Indonesia now??Or Bangkok?? Everyone is squeezing themselves into the small monorail where a old lady was push down and no body help her. What a pity..Fortunately at last some of the teenage Chinese guy go and help her which include me..haha..
After my lunch at Times Square i when back by bus at the station behind Time Square. The journey is OK but is kinda long. Take a hour for that.
In our celebration of 50th Merdeka, I really don't think that the public transport is up to the standard. Government are asking us not to waste the public transport that is ready for us, but imagine if you have work at 8am and you need to start travel at 6 because the unreliable public transport, doesn't we waste our human resources. Imagine 10000 people traveling to work spent 2 hour in public transport, we are wasting 20000 of labor hours. Are we efficient? By the time, worker arrive at workplace they already so tired.
There is many room for improvement for these public transport. The station must be place at strategic places. Few days ago, I read the newspaper that the government will be discontinue their plan to build LRT station for 3 places including Sunway Pyramid which I think is rather stupid. The frequency of the train, bus and monorail should be added during peak hour to avoid been jam up. The most important thing, what the use of touch and go if it is not functioning.
Why the services had never been improve even there is so many complaint especially KTM Komuter. We really need to praise RapidKL bus because the service is getting better. Monorail service is also good but can improve but worst of all, komuter train really need a lot of improvement.

ACCA-UTAR Student Conference - THE STAR, 18 March 2007
Accountants in the making
THE Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman's (UTAR) Bandar Sungai Long campus was abuzz with excitement when the Faculty of Accountancy and Management (FAM) hosted the inaugural ACCA-UTAR Student Conference recently.
Organised by the Utar Accounting Society and the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA), the conference was held to expose students to the benefits of obtaining ACCA qualifications.
More than 270 students from Utar, Kolej Tunku Abdul Rahman, Multimedia University, HELP University College and Universiti Putra Malaysia took part in the conference themed Beyond the Limits.
ACCA Malaysia advisory committee member Teh Ben Chu reminded students on the challenges of the global market.
He said finance professionals were required to keep up with the rapid global economic changes and remain relevant in the industry.
“Employers are searching for individuals who have the determination to do well, while constantly seeking self-improvement and the ability to grow within the environment.
“They are not only expected to be well-versed in technical competence but are also expected to understand and adapt well in corporate cultures that are performance-based and constantly changing,” he added.
Utar president Tan Sri Dr Ng Lay Swee said it was important for one to think out of the box.
Among the activities held were games that inculcated teamwork, co-operation and problem-solving skills.
Apart from fun activities, the participants were also briefed on the benefits of being ACCA-qualified members, as well as on the ACCA Accelerated Programme.
Loo Wai Mei, a final-year Utar student, said the conference was timely as she would soon be entering the job market and was preparing herself for her ACCA certification.
“This conference gave me an overall view of what ACCA is all about and the future that awaits an accounting graduate with a professional qualification.
“I also learnt to improve my interpersonal skills, the importance of focus in anything I do, and the fun of meeting new friends,” she said.
Intervarsity Biz Whiz Competition - Study Malaysia.com
UTAR TEAM WHIZZES THROUGH THE CHALLENGE
National kinship and fellowship amongst students can be nurtured not only through activities like conferences, discourses and leadership camps, but also within competitive environment such as quizzes, sports tournaments and public speaking competitions.
It was in this spirit that Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) Accounting Society organised the inaugural Inter-Varsity Biz Whiz Challenge 2007 on 24 March. Held at the University Bandar Sungai Long Campus, this tournament saw teams from various institutions of higher learning gather to test their business intellect as well as nurture team spirit and consensus among the participants.
With the theme ®Challenge It! Risk It! Win It! teams of three members were tested on their theoretical knowledge in financial and management accounting, taxation, finance, audit, information systems, economy, management and general knowledge during the qualifying rounds. The top four teams were then selected for the grand final. As an annual tournament, the winner trophy, titled the Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik Challenge Cup would be retained by the Champion for a year before the following year tournament. This event was officiated by Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik, who is the UTAR Council Chairman.
Along with 12 teams from UTAR, the other participating teams came from University of Malaya (UM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Multimedia University, International Islamic University Malaysia and Kolej Teknologi Islam Antarabangsa Melaka.
In her address, Tan Sri Datuk Dr Ng Lay Swee, UTAR President, advised the students not to limit their definition of success only in terms of academic excellence. Success is not only confined to academic achievement. It also means all-round excellence, in academic knowledge, social and communication skills, and ethics, she elaborated.
Tan Sri Datuk Dr Ng also applauded the spirit of participation and cooperation showed by all the teams. For UTAR participants, this spirit also indicated the effectiveness of the University efforts in instilling additional soft skills, such as leadership, team work and communication in its students. This has surely added to their employability potential.
The four teams that qualified for the Final Round were from UTAR, UPM and two teams representing UM. In the end, the home team was the winner of this maiden inter-varsity competition. In second place was UM Team 1, followed by UPM as the second runner-up. The second UM team managed the third runner-up placing.
The winning team from UTAR comprised Year 3 Accounting students, Chou Chee Wai, Loo Huai Cheng and Tan Fook Weng.
When interviewed on their win, Chou believed that their thorough preparation played a part. We plotted our strategy only after we received the rules and regulations. This was to ensure that we won breach any stipulated regulations. A good understanding of what we have learned in class also helped us a lot during the competition, he said.
Hopefully, we can retain the Challenge Cup for many years to come. But competition aside, we were glad to have taken part as we made lots of new friends. It felt good to receive congratulatory wishes from them as it showed sportsmanship among students from different institutions, said Loo.
Commenting on the tournament, the team agreed that inter-varsity competitions such as this can benefit the UTAR community in many aspects. This competition has created a network channel for university students across the country. We had the opportunity to meet, exchange ideas and form better relationships with our peers from other universities, said Tan. He and his teammates also felt that students from other institutions were able to learn more about UTAR from their visit while representing their respective universities.

Tour To Top Firm Spurs Students To Excel
Ernst & Young (E&Y), one of the biggest business consulting firms established its base in Malaysia in 1909. It presently has 72 partners and 2300 employees in 17 offices all over the country. As an international firm, its associates have the opportunity to work on the global stage through international transfer opportunities.
These are among the facts that appealed to the Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) Accounting students who attended a Career Talk organised by E&Y at their premises in Pusat Bandar Damansara, Kuala Lumpur on 31 January 2007. This group of Year 3 students were selected to attend this event, one in a series organised by the firm for students of various local universities.
According to Lee Soo Fern, E&Y Director of Human Resource, this series of Career Talk has become an annual affair for the firm not only to recruit top Accounting students, but also to inform the students on employment prospects in the business consulting profession. She was among the speakers who briefed the students on careers at E&Y. The other presenters who also shared their experience were Simon Kua, Partner in Assurance and Advisory Business Services; Janice Wong, Executive Director, Ernst & Young Tax Consultants; and Susanna Lim, Partner in Risk and Business Solutions.
After the talk, the students were taken on a tour of the premises and they took the opportunity to interact with some of the employees and enquired about the working environment there.
For Lim Pei See and her coursemate Moganavani, participating in the event has been a motivating factor for them to get the best results in the final examination. Visiting a top firm like E&Y is viewed as a must for Accounting students as it is one of the Big 4 of Malaysian Accounting firms. I'm excited about starting work soon, and I took this opportunity to submit my application to E&Y. Who knows? By this time next year I may be one of their latest associates! exclaimed Lim positively.
Moganavi, meanwhile, saw the event as an opportunity for her to assess the working environment at E&Y. I would like to have a look and see if I can fit into E&Y. I'm sure working for an established firm like E&Y can bring about valuable experience for a fresh graduate like me,said Moganavani.
According to Eddie Lim, the President of UTAR's Accounting Society who also attended the talk, the event has given them a close-up exposure to the working environment at a top firm. At the same time, those aspiring to be employed in this firm could submit their resumes to E&Y's Human Resource Department. This is another activity in which the Accounting Society is actively involved. In the past, we have organised different types of activities such as leadership camps in Cameron Highlands and Pangkor Island and participation in student conferences held in other institutions of higher learning. Our representatives have also won a competition organised by CIMA last December. How is my busy week?
Week 11 of Year 3 Semester 2 is the toughest week i ever experience. The first time i am so stress up. Sleepless on Saturday and Sunday night. Heart is like pumping so fast that I can imagine that it will stop in anytime. Body is so tired and eye is sore. All this happen before the week 11 start, during the saturday and sunday. Dunno why!!
Saturday:
Whole day memorizing the script for Viva and find info for debate and CRCI tutorial. Although it was a boring saturday but I didn't feel want to sleep. When night fall, I become sleepless. Drink few cups of Milo also can't help..Mind already not attach to the brain. Soul not attach to the body..haha
Sunday:
While most of the friends went to the PC fair, I refuse to go as I want to continue sleep after a bad sleep that night. Of course I also don't have anything to buy so I just refuse to go. Night come, and I have to do presentation at friends house. Everything was fine although it was quite tiring repeating same sentences for times..Again another sleepless night. It take me few hour before I can even close my eye

Tuesday:
Wake up at 6 even before the alarm clock start ringing. I believe this is the due to too excited..haha..Is important day. VIVA..prepare myself for the big day and arrive uni at 8.50am. After redeem laptop and LCD, which the ICT fellow so confuse..what to do..first week work ma..haha..Arrive room at 9.05am and whole 7th floor is empty. after connect both laptop and LCD, i just wait and wait. 9.15am and my groupmate not yet arrive!haiz...i just can't stop calling them...They appear at 9.18, 2 minutes before VIVA is schedule to start. Mr Vincent arrive at 9.22am and we wait for 2nd examiner who didn't show up even the time is 9.25. She arrive at 9.27am and we start our presentation at 9.28am. The MOMENT have arrive...yup..after Jenny will be my turn. Take a deep breath and chant a few chanting word before I start my talking. WOW..i can remember all the speech although there is some word stuck here and there. Some how i take only 4 minutes to present than 4 minutes 35 seconds according to my practise time. Maybe to nervous seeing the "XXX" 2nd examiner face. Could imagine she can change image in just few seconds..Sometime laugh, sometime feel so confuse, sometime smile to us, sometime look angry, sometime look sleepy and etc...haiz..Been bomb with few question and kinda answer it all...they even correct some of our thesis point which is good!! wow..feel so release..feel happy..Take photo lol..Not much because need to go lecture class since we are already extremely late for it..

Condolences
At last i break my promise that I won't post any blog this week until next friday. Anyway the blog is about updated news of the raped case.
Police is now finding the suspect who is a Pakistani guard at Mahkota Cheras and would like to contact with another 4 gals who is the housemate of the victims. They gone missing after the case.
More report have been write in the newspaper and the case have gone beyond what been expected. The rapist not just raped her but also sodomised. What kind of human is that! is not even an animal! Cruel creature!
However, dun really rely on the newspaper report as most of them didn't report the truth. Compare between chinese, malay and english newspaper u will notice all the news is different from each other..
My condolences to Tang's family who I believe have experience great trauma from this case. My hope is that the rapist can be caught.
UTARians, please be careful..Dun be naive and been fool..The world had change. Close friends might be your enemy too...haiz..
