Phuket Day 1

Having difficulty of sleeping night before the fun should begin was totally a disaster. The trip begin with a sleepy and tired body walking down the street having breakfast and catch the LRT to KL sentral just to make sure I am on time to catch the bus to LCCT (low cost carrier terminal)...

My initial plan of having this trip to Phuket is because I wanted to fly since I never fly before...But unpredictably I do fly to Alor Setar in end of May due to unpredicted work. Anyway since it was second time of me flying, I am still as excited as before.

LCCT as the name suggest do not potrait the grand and luxury airport as KLIA does. However I do congratulate AirAsia for the service and new aircraft that I board which I found it better than MAS. Ok, maybe my previous flight was not the best from MAS...

The flight was nice and relaxing as we have the opportunity of viewing the cotton look cloud and nice panorama of Malaysia west cost such as Penang, Langkawi, Kedah paddy field and nice view of small island of Andaman sea.

Upon arrival at Phuket International Airport, we took the meter taxi straight to our hotel, a guesthouse I should say. Orchid Residences is a nice guesthouse equivalent to at least 3 star hotel. The staffs are friendly, the location was extremely “happening” and the price is dirt cheap.

Our first destination after putting our bags and taken some brief bath is of course to the beach located 100 metres from our beach. The route to the Patong beach from our hotel will pass through the famous road named Bangla Road famous for it A-go-go bar, lot of ah gua, and lot of bar.

Patong beach wasn’t the best beach in Phuket and I would said was it comparable to Malaysian beaches like Tioman island and Redang. However the long stretches beach about 1.5km long do fill with lot of sun bathing half naked or bikini ‘ah moh’ gal and guys. It seem to be the beach for everyone from whole world. Phuket are one of the most visited place by everyone. I personally saw tourist from US, UK, South Korea, Australia, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, India, Sweden, Russia, Israel, and even country like Bosnia and Iraq. This is why, Phuket was truly commercialize tourist attraction whereby there is no more feeling of visiting a Thai island. Compare to Malaysia island which still uphold strong Malays style of resort and food, Phuket was so commercialize that all advertisement of food are nothing else but steakhouse, fast food and sandwiches.

Late evening before the moon appear, we headed to Jungceylon International Shopping Complex. The complex is new, well built and nice décor is a place for shopping among all tourists. We have dinner at the food court because that is the only place that I saw serving local dishes. Then we snap some photo of the Junk Boat which was the history of Phuket Island at late 60’ es.

During the night, we yet have a walk at Bangla road looking at those neon lighted street full of westerners partying around. During my walk, hundred of people promoting their bar with words like “Free fetish show”, “Ping Pong show”, “Banana peeling show”, sexy show” and lot more. At some point of time we were ask to have photographing with the ah gua. Thinking it would be good memory of Phuket we stop and took picture with them. OK, we do learn our lesson. No free photo is the world as what they demand after we snap those photo is 200 bath of tips… and they sound so harsh if we rejected them…Damm ah gua…

Feeling cheated we headed back to our room for a sleep as tomorrow will be a better and long day to go. But before we sleep we buy some beer and cheer for the whole night….

Pre-Phuket Insomnia

3.30am of 19 October 2008, I sit in front of the monitor screen blogging.

I am not crazy dude...I have pre-phuket insomnia...

Basically when I was young, I always get too excited about trip or maybe over worried. My heart pump very fast thinking of the excitement and fun. Is like my body wasn't there yet but my soul already in Phuket.

I thought I have no longer having this pre-trip insomnia since I enter college. When I was in college, basically I can sleep very well for all the trip I organize or I went too. There is once trip that I even overslept.

Why? Why do I have difficulty in sleeping a night before the trip...I am damm hungry now. Blogging while drinking my hot Milo...wondering how my trip will be.

How could I just stop thinking....Maybe I just too excited.

It was pre-phuket insomnia....

Heart Attack

This sunday I am going to Phuket to relax and have some fun...My mood was fully turn on and I am learning some Thai language in case I need it during the journey. Sawadee Krap....

Everything seem perfect. I manage to get the cheapest flight and hotel ever...For an outing on beaches like Phuket, what is the meaning if there is no sunlight, sand and sea...

Sand and sea is surely there but what make me heart attack is the sunlight might not be there....Damm

A check on phuket wheather reveal that there is probability of having rain on the chosen date that I wanted to go snorkeling...That is bad...2nd check with yet another weather forecast say that 95% rain and 5% variance....Damm...that make me even sad....

Almost all website show that there will be raining on Monday whereby I am going for snorkeling.....SO i really have heart attack...haha..

Nevermind thanks to google weather, I am satisfied....It read Sunny day with isolated rain in certain area with 10% variance....Hope so la...haha...

See ya....Phuket I am coming

Stuck in Jam

Back to Klang suppose to be a good thing. I can relax after a long hectic lifestyle. 5 years of non stop studying and working really make me sick....But all this assumption seem wrong nowadays....

Klang is becoming a terrible place. The air quality is so bad compare to Klang especially near the town area and the jam was just unbearable.

My journey back Klang was absolutely a terrible journey. The jam started from Bukit Raja toll up to the main town of Klang. No thanks to the idiot development from the ex-local government.

My journey to my class in Sunway today turnout to be a nightmare. I thought I could be he earliest to arrive in class since I come out at 5.45 which was quite early as my journey to the college will normally take 25 minutes or less. To my horrow, the rain started just when I departed from my house. The traffic jam in the class city have create chaostic problem what what even worst is the jam at the federal highway. I was moving at the average of 5-10km per hour. The snake line which started near the Mara University till the Batu Tiga toll had taken up 1 and quarter hour of my journey...It was really a bad day I believe...Along the way there is 9 accidents and bad float near the highway exit that causes long queue at some of the exit point. To make my day worst upon my exit near the Subang parade, I need to bumper to bumper to my college which take another 40 minutes of my time...

Why do Malaysian so patient when come to traffic jam? I didn't even hear any car honking or shouting...hehe...I believe we all Malaysian know that honking is useless as there will be no change in the situation...Haiz...Malaysia...

Reduce fuel but increse in traffic jam....I believe it make no different to our daily life...hehe

The Finale - Happy Ending

Serving 1 month notice is both torturing and nice period. It was nice because I know I will leave the firm soon, leaving behind all stress and burden. It was torturing because I got 1 month time to say goodbye to the nice colleagues

The celebration come to the climax especially during the last week of the tenure. Farewell party throw in by groups of colleague for almost everyday. It started with Raya Celebration as gathering while for me it was like a grand goodbye party. Taken place at Shue Ting Condominium, we have our poolside barbecue and spaghetti dinner overlooking the Genting Highland.

On Wednesday, I again farewell party by close colleagues at Pizza Hut. On Thursday my beloved senior treated me at KFC and lastly on Friday afternoon my current manager spend me at famous fish head noodle shop and Bah Kut Teh.

After emotional exit yesterday, I went to the finale dinner, a happy ending dinner at King Steamboat at Jalan Ipoh.

We are all serious worker...We are serious during our job...We are dedicated student when we come to study and when we are out for fun, we are just the crazy group of people...

We have cute and act cute people...

and we have playful guy...

We have typical auditor (I realize auditor like to wear white)

We have background lady acting cute...

We have typical stress up auditor

We have unprofessional cook that cook for us...

We are just serious and dedicated staff....We rarely smile during our work but see how sweet is the laughter...But all this is now a memory down the lane for me...I will be missing those laughter, lame joke, smile, and even group msn in the office...

I misses the 12am msn call for lunch planning....I misses my dinner call where no body will entertain me....I misses the time we rushing to college together....I misses the time people laugh in my car calling my car "Gay Cheh"....I misses everything...Despite all this misses, I misses Mei Cheh tea the most...hahahaha...

==Let cheer for our future, our life, our ACCA and our friendship ==

The finale is already pass and what in the past become history and what in the future is the thing that need to be treasure... We might not be colleague anymore but we are still classmate, we are still friend and we are still buddy buddy in msn...

Keep in touch ya...

BDO = Best Development Opportunity

Common question that is difficult to be answered and that is 'What is BDO?'. Binder, Djiker, and Otte are the founding partner of BDO and what BDO stands today is the Big 5 and some might say Big 4 accounting firm in Malaysia.

BDO Binder marks my first career pathway. The pathway that I will never forgot. The best experience till dated that I had ever experience. It was definitely the saddest thing to leave such a good company which I have so many friendly colleagues. Bidding a goodbye is never been easy especially for emotional people like me…

Believe me but this will be the longest posting ever in this blog….I couldn’t know how to start and how to put my feeling in word…It was just a sad moment.

I remember....

The first day on work, I woke up very early, preparing myself, grooming, walk to LRT together with Fook Weng and Ji Leng as early as 7am. Some briefing and hundred of handshake with the colleagues and there go our very first job.

Sooner second job come and follow by third and fourth. It then continues. But what we learn is not just work but also building up relationship.

From colleague to friend to classmate and sooner to ex-colleague; we have gone through together. It was just too sad to leave.
____________________________________________________________________________________

9 months wasn’t too long but it was also not too short. Auditing the total number of 8 groups of companies whereby I fully responsible for the total of 16 entities was a great achievement for me. It was a small amount but what I learn is extremely valuable.

9 months…That the period that I realize audit is something I want but also something I hate. There is several things I hate and there is some I like…I confuse…

9 months also saw the progression of friendship that was also the saddest thing I have to leave behind…

____________________________________________________________________________________

Decision to quit is not just as simple as quitting. Adding ourselves to the statistic of unemployment wasn’t good nor was it easy for us to adapt to new company environment. I do not know that my decision of resigning had leaded me back to Klang after staying in KL for almost 5 years.

Today, the last day of work, my mind was totally disturbed. I can’t perform my work well. I couldn’t answer simple question posted by my senior. I couldn’t even manage my time nicely.

5pm, half an hour before I end my BDO journey, I packed all the stuff and collecting signature for exit purpose. After collecting all signature, I proceed to the IT department to settle my laptop returning process and then Human Resource Department to hand in all administration item such as locker key, audit bag and my beloved identity card. The timing whereby handling over the card was like telling myself that, “You are no longer belong to here”… Employee A0800 (such a beautiful number) is no longer here…

I went back to thirteen floors and snap some photo with those who are in office before leaving for a dinner with close colleague and with that ending my very last day in the firm.I look like been fired
As I say before and I will keep on saying this, one biggest thing that I left behind is the opportunity to work with this bunch of crazy fella that brighten my day whenever I stress up.

The below picture will forever be memory of lifetime and although we will meet very frequently, but it was just too sad lo leave…

To bunch of colleague from HELP mainly Christine Loo, Yi Ling, Leaf, Natalie and Mei Poh, you all ROCK the firm….Definately very happy to meet you all…

To Shue Ting, Christine Fang and Sook Kuen, your laugther, your joke and the word “DISMISS” will forever in my mind…I will remember to dismiss, Sook Kuen…promise I will dismiss…

To Minami, the super model…Hope you happy forever with your boy boy….

Kamini, the victim of discrimination…Haha….there is no racial discrimination…dun worry…hehe Hui Peng, the cute little gal...

This is Ms Zovy, the audit operational executive…..

Peggy is a real food leader! When it was time to eat, she will for sure the person who make decision of what to eat and where to eat…

My longest ever senior I attached to is Seok Wei..3 and a half month I work under her…

Yee Wen…. We spent 2 weeks in hospital becoming doctor….Yeah, I love people calling me Doctor Lim…

With typist in typist pool….I can never beat their speed of typing….

Anyway, there is a lot who is not in the office today so lot of people I can’t snap photo with….For sure I will miss a lot of thing. Every morning I will miss Mary shouting “Petty Cash” and local coffee at 9am by Mei Cheh our tealady…2pm will be the special milk tea “Mei Cheh famous stocking tea”…

For sure I missed my senior teaching….Lung Lik, Yee Eng, Tse Khim, Christine Toh, Seok Wei, Yee Wen and lot more…..There are all nice bunch of people…I just love working with them…I really enjoy it…Barbara, hope you get well soon...Angela and HR team, all the best...It just getting more emotional now...I should be so emotional..

Anyway...Time flies very fast and 9 months just pass....Is time for turning new life, new cycle and time for me to close yet another chapter of my life....Time flies and it was now 12am.....Till here is my post....More to come in the future....

Ethic Dilemma

From small we were taught of what is good and what is bad. We were told not to kill, not to betray, not to steal and not to do what is perceive to be wrong in the community.

However, when we are adult, how many of us still think this moral value is important for survival. Even worst, now people are saying being nice guy will never end up in good situation....or in other word hero always die at the end...

How true was it? I wonder

I wonder why at my tertiary education I was force to take business ethics and professional ethics. I wonder why law was enforce to regulate human behaviour. I even wonder why professional paper such as ACCA are now putting more concern on ethical behaviour rather than the traditional academic style of questioning... I just wonder

Is ethics something we study and to be examine or are suppose ethical should be daily practise? I wonder and I understand that there is no answer for this. We come from different background, different culture and thus what we see is wrong might not be wrong for certain people. For example for Islamic they see gambling as prohibited and for Chinese they will think Gambling for the sake of fun is OK but not toward addiction.

In daily life we face so many ethical dilemma.

If you are lawyer, you know your best friend murder a person and he ask you to help him out in the court..will you did it?

If you are doctor and one day you saw your enemy is half dead and you are responsible to safe him...Would you safe him with your integrity toward your job or will you just carelessly perform your work hopping he will suffer more?

If you are auditor and you know there is fraud, would you shut your mouth or will you become whistle blower?

If you close family member is badly ill in hospital and the doctor is asking whether you want to switch off the oxygen tank due to the high cost that is nor bearable by you and your family or will you let it operate?

All this answer is wondering question. I do have friend who answer me that "I am not doctor, I am not a lawyer, I dun have enemy and I dun friend with murderer" but reality if this happen what will you do?

Ethic....It was a big word...

Professional people such as doctor, lawyer and accountant are thus to have professional ethics involving judgement of what is right and what is wrong.

As I am busy for almost 6 months continuously I don't have chance to watch any drama or show that I wanted to watch. In 6 months time i barely even finish up 3 episode of my drama. As for such a long holiday I manage to watch famous "Donald Trump's" show call The Apprentice...and this year it goes celebrities...

After I finish the whole 13 episode, I was shocked of how dramatic this bunch of celebrities. They compromise of sportsman and woman, model, singer, heavyweight wrestler, superstar and one reality show celebrity named Omorosa. Omorosa was nominated as the most hated reality show celebrity for being having problem with most contestant. However I salute her bravery, her survival skill of protecting and having war to the very last drop of blood...Really, she is just an amazing woman...But in reality I don't think I can work well with her...hehe

What make me a shock is this bunch of people are just 2 very different personality. They are like devil and good man...I just can't believe that. The sportswoman are just too soft and too good for the game that even they won't multiple gold for Olympic but they fail in The Apprentice. What I love about this show is there is so may chaotic and drama along the way. We saw how some group using rat (spy) and how aggressive is somebody in winning the task. Although the winning group contribution will never go into their pocket but their chosen charity body but I am shock of how they play the whole game.

In the finale, the competition down to Piers Morgan (the judge for American Got Talent show) and Trace Adkins (popular country singer) which was label as devil vs good man. For me that the reality of the world. In business to perform better, earn better we tend to use all opportunity without considering whether that is ethical or now. For me Piers is a great guy and manage to raise so much money because he have all rich celebrities contact while for Trace he have simple life with friends who is also same like him, live in simple life and less $$$ as compare to Piers. At the end Trump hired Piers.

I don not say Trump make wrong decision. I do not say Piers is wrong but what he do is not perceive as ethical...Maybe he is too harsh, tough and money minded...That is real businessman life...But Trace is also great man...He manage to survive along the way with those tough guy like Piers. Anyway I was betting that Trace win but he didn't.

So the reality, is ethical practical in business? There are several companies which did have ethical practise such as IJM Corporation Berhad which was awarded multiple good corporate governance reporting and CSR practise and SP Setia which was famous for Eco and green approach in their developing. How about company business which was unethical but portrait themselves as ethical such as BAT, GAB, Genting and so on....

Ethic dilemma...

It was how we see and perceive what is right and what is wrong...
