My initial plan of having this trip to Phuket is because I wanted to fly since I never fly before...But unpredictably I do fly to Alor Setar in end of May due to unpredicted work. Anyway since it was second time of me flying, I am still as excited as before.
LCCT as the name suggest do not potrait the grand and luxury airport as KLIA does. However I do congratulate AirAsia for the service and new aircraft that I board which I found it better than MAS. Ok, maybe my previous flight was not the best from MAS...
The flight was nice and relaxing as we have the opportunity of viewing the cotton look cloud and nice panorama of Malaysia west cost such as Penang, Langkawi, Kedah paddy field and nice view of small island of Andaman sea.
Upon arrival at Phuket International Airport, we took the meter taxi straight to our hotel, a guesthouse I should say. Orchid Residences is a nice guesthouse equivalent to at least 3 star hotel. The staffs are friendly, the location was extremely “happening” and the price is dirt cheap.
Our first destination after putting our bags and taken some brief bath is of course to the beach located 100 metres from our beach. The route to the Patong beach from our hotel will pass through the famous road named Bangla Road famous for it A-go-go bar, lot of ah gua, and lot of bar.
Patong beach wasn’t the best beach in Phuket and I would said was it comparable to Malaysian beaches like Tioman island and Redang. However the long stretches beach about 1.5km long do fill with lot of sun bathing half naked or bikini ‘ah moh’ gal and guys. It seem to be the beach for everyone from whole world. Phuket are one of the most visited place by everyone. I personally saw tourist from US, UK, South Korea, Australia, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, India, Sweden, Russia, Israel, and even country like Bosnia and Iraq. This is why, Phuket was truly commercialize tourist attraction whereby there is no more feeling of visiting a Thai island. Compare to Malaysia island which still uphold strong Malays style of resort and food, Phuket was so commercialize that all advertisement of food are nothing else but steakhouse, fast food and sandwiches.
Late evening before the moon appear, we headed to Jungceylon International Shopping Complex. The complex is new, well built and nice décor is a place for shopping among all tourists. We have dinner at the food court because that is the only place that I saw serving local dishes. Then we snap some photo of the Junk Boat which was the history of Phuket Island at late 60’ es.
During the night, we yet have a walk at Bangla road looking at those neon lighted street full of westerners partying around. During my walk, hundred of people promoting their bar with words like “Free fetish show”, “Ping Pong show”, “Banana peeling show”, sexy show” and lot more. At some point of time we were ask to have photographing with the ah gua. Thinking it would be good memory of Phuket we stop and took picture with them. OK, we do learn our lesson. No free photo is the world as what they demand after we snap those photo is 200 bath of tips… and they sound so harsh if we rejected them…Damm ah gua…
Feeling cheated we headed back to our room for a sleep as tomorrow will be a better and long day to go. But before we sleep we buy some beer and cheer for the whole night….
