Phuket Day 2

In all trip, 2nd days always saw the most happening or climax of the tour. For this time around since we have longer holiday of 4 days and 3 nights, it seem way to fast for climax wasn’t it?

On the second day as planned before hand, we are going to Phi Phi Island located 48km away from Phuket Island. The island becomes a hit after some Hollywood winning movie was filmed there including “The Beach”. Phi Phi once saw tsunami hitting it so badly that barely single life was found surviving. It was just a small island but beautiful.

Since we are backpacking and on budget tour so we opt the cruise tour rather than speed boat. The different of this 2 is speedboat can stop at the beach to allow people to swim and snorkeling while cruise type we stop about 50 metres from shore just to capture the panorama. But it worth every single penny we throw in. The journey start from van pick up from our hotel which take 40 minutes to arrive the port. Then we are directed to one of the few cruise ferry available and were serve with hot tea and croissant. Then those ‘ang mo’ starts to sun bathing on the board while those Asian chicks and hunk all sited inside the air-con room rather than risking their life of skin cancer. As for us, we choose to sit outside with shaded area enjoying the scenic view of limestone island and seawater hoping some dolphin will jump around…Hehe…dreaming…

Beside taking some photo and posting like model, we do also keep our eye on beautiful gals and hunky guy. The strong wind also helps us to design new hairstyle and with the salty air due to the sea water our hair also become hard and spiky.

Anyway after the long journey we arrive at Maya Bay the place where Leonardo Di Carpio filmed the movie call ‘The Beach’. The water was definitely clean and clear but I doubt it would be cleaner and clearer than Tioman Island I previously visit.

Maya Bay was so beautiful due to its beach which was almost covered by 2 limestones at the both side making the beach almost hidden inside the bay. The tour guide who was perfectly bad in English makes me so annoyed as he keep on talking something we do not understand. It was definitely a spoiler. Maya Bay was located in smaller island call Phi Phi Ley. Among other place that we went for sighting in Phi Phi Ley was Viking cave, and Ao Loh Samah and some other bay.

On the journey to Phi Phi Don, the bigger island, we stop half way and change to smaller boat so we can go snorkeling. The snorkeling wasn’t that bad but still same old word, Malaysia have better corals and fishes. For snorkeling I personally feel Asian people are braver as I saw lot of them didn’t use any snorkeling gear and yet dare to snorkel far away from the boat. As for westerner I think they have no place to waste their money but to buy a pair of fin for snorkeling.

We then stop at Tom Sai Beach and headed to Phi Phi hotel for our lunch. Lunch was good but not as good as Malaysian food. Maybe our tongues get use to Malaysia food already. We were serve with tom yam seafood soup which was white in color, kinda weird, and other dishes such as Chicken Cashewnut, Fish Fillet in Sweet and Sour sauce both eaten only by 3 of us as the other Israel citizen choose to only eat the Fried Chicken and Onion Ring. Steam rice and Spagetti in Tomato Gravy added some kick to it beside the lousy mix vegetable and mix fruit. I wonder why only Watermelon and Pineapple was serve in Phuket….Don’t be too influenced by Hawaii aloha style, please…I still prefer coconut as main feature of island and where is Mango, the fruit that symbolize Thai?

Then we walk to Toh Dalam Beach which was north of Toh Sai. Basically the bay was cover with 2 beaches, one on the north and one on the south separated by only 100 metres of land which was now full of hotel and resort. The beach at Toh Dalam was clear and beautiful and what make Phi Phi beach different is there is hardly and wave on the beach making it an idle place for swimming.

The journey back took another 2 hours. While Fook Weng is having sleep due to headache in the air-cond room we went out for sun bathing as well. It was cloudy all the while making it an enjoyable sun tanning. We even been serve with Watermelon which some of the westerner tourist especially the kids said “How come watermelon got so many seed?” Yup, Thailand watermelons do have lot of seed!
The journey back to hotel which took another hour is simply the best place for us to sleep.

Upon arriving at the hotel, we plan to sleep but I am thinking since we already half wet and still soak with sea water, why not we stop at Patong beach, jump into the water and wait for sunset. So we headed to the beach, and play in the water till late evening whereby sun start to be missing from the cloud and sea. Disappointing as we didn’t saw a egg yolk sun set but it is Ok. Then we walk back to hotel half nakedly hoping no ah gua come and kacau me. In deed they are none of them because I believe they are all busy make up for the night.

Night time we stop at one Chinese hawker place call Red Boat and order the Green Curry Pork and Crab Curry with fried rice. Then we headed back to some info counter to book for tomorrow Fantasea ticket.

Again at night we walk along the beach and famous bar and club. We also spot some sex gals dancing on the table, on the pole and some sexy fashion show take place in front of the club.
Since Loy Krathong festival is on the way, some seller make money buy selling Air Lantern known as "kon ming ten" among the chinese and some firework. We do enjoy the view...

That is the night, after the long journey and we headed to the room where both Fook Weng and Nicholas sleep like a baby upon resting on the bed while I watch some TV show before falling to sleep.
